MB meaning?

Whether it's a MB, kB, TB, or GB, all of these abbreviations stand for the amount of bytes. The amount or number of bytes are used to measure the size or amount of digital information.

What is the difference between GB and TB and so on?

Want to know how many GB in a TB? Or, without the abbreviations, how many gigabytes are in a terabyte? First, you need to understand what a byte is, then it's super simple to know the difference between MB to kB or MB to GB.

A byte (B) is the smallest unit of digital information. It is how we humans measure and quantify information online. A byte is a unit of digital information that consists of eight bits (b). Bits (b) are even smaller than bytes, but a byte is as small as you need to go for most tech users. A file comprises so many bytes–the more bytes, the bigger the file. 1 byte (B) = 8 bits (b)

A kilobyte (kB) is a multiple of the unit byte for digital information. The International System of Units (SI) prefix kilo represents 1,000, so one kilobyte equals around 1,000 bytes. Kilobytes are denoted by the globally accepted unit symbol kB. 1 kilobyte (kB) = 1000 bytes (B)

A megabyte (MB) is a multiple of the digital informational unit byte. The unit symbol for the megabyte is MB. The unit prefix mega represents one million in the International System of Units (SI). As a result, one megabyte is equal to about one million bytes of data. 1 megabyte (MB) = 1,000 kilobytes (kB)

A gigabyte (GB) is a widely-used multiple of the digital informational unit byte. According to SI, the prefix giga represents one billion. The gigabyte is denoted by the letters GB. A gigabyte is equal to about one billion bytes. 1 gigabyte (GB) = 1,000 megabytes (MB)

Most digital data is measured in terabytes (TB). The prefix tera within the International System of Units (SI) denotes a value of one trillion. A terabyte is labeled with the letters TB and is roughly 1 trillion bytes. 1 terabyte (TB) = 1,000 gigabytes (GB)

A terabyte (TB) is then followed in the same pattern exponentially by a petabyte (PB), an exabyte (EB), then a zettabyte (ZB), and a yottabyte (YB). Then anything bigger than that is difficult to fathom.

Select the value you wish to convert and select the value you would like to convert it to (for example: kB to MB). Enter a value in the first section on the left, and your answer will appear in the second section on the right.

Simply input the byte value you want to convert into our Byte Converter and select the byte value you want to reformat in, the value will automatically be converted and displayed.

You may also use the conversion chart listed above if you want to manually do the calculation.

1000 GB equals 1 TB. So one TB of storage can hold 1000 GB of data.

TB and GB only differ in size. A terabyte is made up of more bytes, the smallest units of data, than a gigabyte. In general, a B is smaller than a kB, a MB is bigger than that, a GB is bigger still, and a TB is even bigger.

If you would like to see how they all stack up against each other or what’s MB meaning or what’s bigger than a terabyte, check out the conversion chart above on the page.

Though your 1 TB drive is listed as having 1 TB worth of storage, typically, you won’t be able to use the whole amount as part of the drive may be used for operational files.

2 terabytes (TB) equals 2,000 gigabytes (GB) or 2,000,000 megabytes (MB). With 2TB of data, you can store an average of 200,000 photos with today's smartphones, and roughly 500,000 documents can fit on a 2TB drive.

1 terabyte (TB) equals about 1,000 gigabytes (GB) or 1,000,000 megabytes (MB). With 1TB of data, you can store an average of 100,000 photos with today's smartphones, and roughly 250,000 documents can fit on a 1TB drive.
